Amy Senftleber

Licensed Professional Counselor 

Registered Dance Movement Therapist

Amy Senftleber-Makopoulos is a registered dance movement therapist (R-DMT) and a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. Thereafter, she earned her Master of Arts degree in Expressive Therapies: Dance Therapy with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

 

During her graduate program, Amy facilitated groups and 1:1 therapy sessions with developmentally delayed adults and children at Perkin’s School of the Blind, Minute Man Arc Day Habilitation and Minute Man Arc Early Intervention. In her professional career, Amy has worked in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospital settings’ leading inpatient recreation therapy groups, outpatient therapy groups, and inpatient case management. Amy is certified in telehealth for mental health professionals.

 

Amy is a classically trained ballet dancer with a passion for mental health. With her background in expressive therapies Amy has the unique ability to use traditional therapeutic interventions along with artistic expression to help clients achieve their goals and increase self-awareness. Amy is passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community, individuals with developmental delays, and individuals with severe mental illness including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder.

 

When she is not working with clients Amy enjoys traveling, watching baking shows, and spending time with her husband and two cats.
