At West Houston Psychology, we are dedicated to fostering the growth and development of aspiring counselors and psychologists through our comprehensive and hands-on Psychology Practicum Program. Our program is designed to provide valuable practical experience, mentorship, and a supportive learning environment for individuals pursuing a career in psychology or counseling.

Key Program Components:
1. Clinical Placements:

 

Trainees will engage in supervised clinical placements, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. Placements cover a variety of psychological services, ensuring a well-rounded experience. Trainees are expected to log 20 hours a week including individual and group supervision for the duration of practicum experience. This practicum is a 12-month training program.

2. Supervision and Mentorship:

Our experienced supervisors provide regular individual and group supervision, creating a supportive environment for trainees to discuss cases, receive feedback, and enhance their clinical skills.

3. Professional Development:

 

Our program includes a series of seminars led by experts in the field. Topics range from the latest advancements in psychological research to practical skills such as ethical considerations, cultural competence, and effective communication.

4. Networking Opportunities:

 

Trainees will have the chance to connect with professionals in the field, fostering valuable networks that can contribute to their future career development.
